I tried to get some giant grass yesterday on the side of the road and on the creek more than 30 meters away from the house, but I was hesitant for I'm thinking that it has many thorns like the one variety we used to know. Besides, it's not our land but my mom told me that it was my father who actually planted these before to prevent soil erosions. Only this morning when I asked my mom to go with me for she also wanted to get the other variety which is "bolo" to be used as a pole to pick banana heart blossoms and fruits. We have 4 varieties of bamboos growing in the area and the one I cut is what they called "Dalusan" or Black Bamboo maybe. The other one is "botong" that is almost similar to "bolo" and hairy. Unlike the usual bamboo we know and the "dalusan" that are less or no fine hairs when it's already matured. It's hard to identify what are the English names of these varities for I only knew the local names. You need to know first the sizes and shapes of the culms and leaves and the branching patterns according to what I have read. I also have a post about it last year for we are eating the shoots of it but until now, my assignment to identify each kind was not yet finished. I just based it to what my parents have told me but the important is, it has no thorns haha! I will be using these bamboos as posts to my garden projects so I tried my best, but my best was not good enough, char! I still got some wounds even it has no thorns. While I'm struggling to cut some pieces, I saw some old or abandoned snake eggs which I thought were stones. I also took a shot of sugarcane plantation of my grandma's sister where other bamboo varieties grow. And when I got home, my cat Butlog keeps on meowing like she wanted to speak. Maybe she's asking why were gone for almost an hour.
