A Dictator Social media is like the second skin of a person of this era. I open social network pages every day and enjoy a variety of videos and entertainment. I'm also looking at photos of someone's journey, day, and even achievements. Sometimes I wonder how wonderful they can do all these things. When posting online, people look very excited. While this perfection revolves around social media, I'm well aware that it's only superficial. Social media has the power to build. It has the power to lie, gather opinions, and become a topic of the town. Online news, how confident are we that it is one hundred percent accurate? Are we sure the photos are real? Social media has the power to change the truth. It is a double-edged sword that can give help and wounds at the same time. Because of its counterfeiting power, it has become a tool for destroying people's lives. Many have died and many have changed their lives to fit into the superficial world. It makes people think they have to meet unreasonable standards. That is the reality we have chosen to ignore. We ignore this because it doesn't physically affect us, but our ethics are slowly collapsing as we try to feed this monster. It constantly strives for perfection and drives us to never settle for what we have. I'm disappointed at how we've allowed social media to dictate our lives. Instead of being under control, it has turned into the opposite. It's heartbreaking to see the next generation follow what social media tells them to do. Is there a chance we can reclaim our power? Because, nowadays, social media dictates our behavior for the sake of pleasing others rather than for the benefit of ourselves.
