Ripple is looking to grow the XRP-related business despite the SEC's pending lawsuit. In fact, although XRP is a cryptocurrency based on a blockchain not completely controlled by Ripple, its use is still largely linked to corporate tools. Ripple is the company that created the eponymous cryptocurrency in 2012, then renamed XRP when the company effectively ceded control of the blockchain to the community. However, the company still holds the majority of XRP tokens, and controls most of the tools within which XRP is used. In addition, the SEC's pending lawsuit against Ripple also partly concerns XRP, which was deemed very similar to a security when it was put on the market by the company. That said, the company is still looking to develop the XRP-related business in order to guarantee a future for this cryptocurrency regardless of how the SEC lawsuit might be resolved. On the other hand, the current price of XRP is still significantly higher even than it had before the announcement of the SEC lawsuit in December last year, when the price had risen to almost $ 0.7 and then dropped to almost 0 , $ 2 at the end of the month. After returning to $ 0.6 in mid-February, the price rose again in the following months, to a peak above $ 1.8 in mid-April, before falling below $ 1. Therefore, the current price is not only still significantly higher than what it had before the announcement of the lawsuit, but is almost five times higher than at the beginning of the year.
