“And for your sakes, I’m glad I wasn’t there, for now you will really believe. Come, let’s go see him.” (John 11:15) Jesus was telling his disciples why he waited to visit his sick friend Lazarus. Healing him would have brought less glory to God than raising him from the dead; so Jesus let Lazarus die. There are many stories within this story. He had other interaction with the sisters, Mary and Martha, but this Mary is the one who would later pour expensive perfume on his feet and wipe them with her hair. Her worship of Jesus then was profoundly impacted by the power of God she had seen in him here. And there are many stories within the story of your life—God is using it to bring greater glory to his name. He is using your life to bring others closer to him as well as to develop in you a greater appreciation of his purpose and power. He may wait to answer your prayers; he may let the things you love die. His ways are not our ways. But there is no reason to doubt him, because he has the power to raise the dead to life. This is what Mary saw. And this is what we will see if we look around us with a clearer view of what’s actually happening. The reason he does anything is so that “now you will really believe.” #Jesus #Faith #Believe #EverydayBibleVerse #BibleVerse
