“For it is my Father’s will that all who see his Son and believe in him should have eternal life. I will raise them up at the last day.” (John‬ ‭6:40) You see it all over the world: people who want to be in the spotlight. Whether it’s politicians, movie stars, athletes, businessmen, or simply the neighbor who parks his new car in the driveway and leaves the window sticker on it for a month so everyone can see, people want attention. They want to stand out. But this is the opposite of Jesus who, as a little helpless baby born in a dirty stable at the end of the world, lived in near-obscurity for most of his life. And he is the King of kings! Jesus was willing to wait for God to raise him up. We must wait our turn—it will come. Instead of dreams of standing on a podium receiving the praise of men, perhaps we could serve men and receive the praise of God. Be careful what you wish for, though. When Jesus was first raised up it was quite unpleasant—feet that should have walked across a stage in front of cheering crowds were nailed to a cross. We may spend some time on our own crosses as God works out his plan in our lives. But also, just like with Jesus, God is going to use us to bring glory to his name. That’s worth the wait. #NoiseCash
