“This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.” (Genesis‬ ‭2:24‬) I had these thoughts after receiving a friend’s request to pray that he and his wife could be on the same page. That should always be our hope and goal. Disunity is the first and most egregious consequence of original sin when it started in the Garden of Eden. Man was created for harmony and relationship. Satan knows this. Satan hates God. Satan hates you. You and your spouse are in his sights. He has already pulled the trigger and fired shots at you. Some of you have been hit many times, others, well, they’re coming. Get a glimpse of the bigger picture—that there is a battle in the heavenly realm for ownership of your loyalty, your will, your heart—and it will help you to understand and withstand the enemy’s schemes. According to statistics, more than half of marriages have been broken. Which means there are countless others that are on the verge. Visualize this: half of God’s army is sidelined by injury and defeat. Don’t be a statistic. Renew your commitment to stay the course even in the face of withering attacks. Your family may have been infiltrated but that person who once said “I do” is not the real enemy, regardless of what it may seem at the moment. Dear God, for these my friends, and me, I pray for strength, for power, for unity, for wholeness, for healing, for a bigger vision of you. And that your victory would be evident and soon.
