Jesus tells the disciples what He has often talked about in their presence before His death and resurrection: that absolute authority, the source of all power, has been given to Him by God the Father. And it is from this standpoint that He gives "the Great Commission" to make disciples from the people of all nations on the earth; to baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
