“Lord, you know the hopes of the helpless. Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them.” (Psalms‬ ‭10:17‬) If you haven’t come to a point in your life where you feel completely helpless, you aren’t trying hard enough. That might sound like hyperbole but I am totally serious. Do you believe in anything enough to push for it right up to the limits of your being? Top athletes are familiar with this kind of performance; they know that the gold medal doesn’t go to slouchers. But more than physical exertion, there is mental, relational, and spiritual. Don’t be left standing at the starting line. Harder than running a race is loving your spouse, loving your family, loving your neighbor, loving your enemy, loving God. Yes, loving God. When he doesn’t come through for you at the right time or in a way you believe is appropriate, loving him can be a challenge. Press on. Think of the men of old, sitting in a lions’ den, or being pushed into a fiery furnace, or walking into the sea. Or being nailed to a cross. Find your limit and then still trust him. That’s when he gives you your second wind. #God #Hope #Trust
