“Let the sea and everything in it shout his praise! Let the fields and their crops burst out with joy! Let the trees of the forest sing for joy before the Lord, for he is coming to judge the earth.” (1 Chronicles 16:32-33) One of the most calming things I can do in the face of conflict or extraordinary stress is to get outside. There is a divine stillness that comes from being in God’s unspoiled creation. I’ve been so deep into the wilderness that there is no artificial light, no sounds from man or machinery, no smells other than animal or vegetation. It’s glorious. Nature, too, is waiting on the return of Jesus. But it’s in the noise and mess of humanity that salvation is desperately needed. In the absence of peace is where its value is most obvious. And the Gospel must be preached. Jesus is coming back, and the perfect timing of this momentous occasion remains in the very capable hands of the Heavenly Father. So I will continue to wait along with the trees and the fish, but like them, it may not always be quietly. #praise
