Despite the identification of critical vulnerabilities in client protocols, the #Ethereum network update is unlikely to be postponed! Critical vulnerabilities have been found in the updates of the Go Ethereum (#Geth) and Nethermind client protocols created for the upcoming "relocation" of the Ethereum network to a new algorithm. This was announced on #Twitter by #blockchain project developers. Ethereum developer Peter Silaji stated that the latest update for Geth contains a functional regression that leads to incorrect code execution. Moreover, the vulnerability may even lead to the compromise of the #database, but only if the entire Ethereum #network falls. The bug has already been identified and a patch has been submitted, but it remains unclear whether all the problems have been solved. As noted by Ethereum developer Mika Zoltu, the problem in Geth is unlikely to shift the timing of Ethereum's transition to the Proof-of-Stake algorithm. He noted that it is enough for the user to switch to another client protocol to support the update. The developer of another #Nethermind client protocol under the pseudonym DanielC also reported the detection of an error in the latest update of the program, and also reported on the solution of the problem. Earlier, the developer of the decentralized autonomous organizations (#DAO) framework, Stefan Tual, left the Ethereum community. According to him, the blockchain has "turned into a circus" of #centralized non-interchangeable tokens (#NFT), endless Ponzi schemes and illegal distribution of securities. Recall, it is assumed that the Ethereum ecosystem will "move" from the Proof-of-Work algorithm to Proof-of-ownership (Proof-of-Stake) as early as September 15.
