The National Assembly of Panama has almost unanimously approved a bill regulating the use of crypto assets in a country that has already become known as a center of offshore financial services. The bill, which is now being sent to President Laurentino Cortiso for signature, was approved by 8 votes in favor, with two abstentions and not a single vote against. The document concerns the trading and use of #crypto assets, the issuance of digital securities, new payment systems and the tokenization of precious metals. Panamanians will be able to use crypto assets as a means of payment for any civil or commercial transactions not prohibited by law in the country. In September, one of the creators of the bill, Gabriele Silva, said that the law is broader than the provisions adopted by El Salvador last year.
