The share of Bitcoin's total #hashrate owned by exchange-traded companies has grown over the past year along with an increase in the number of public miners. A report published by Arcane Research says that exchange-traded mining companies now control 19% of the total #Bitcoin hashrate. Since January 1 of this year, this value has increased by 3%. If at the beginning of last year a few units of mining companies were brought to the exchange, now the number of public companies engaged in mining has reached 26. This increase is primarily due to the entry of miners on the exchange, rather than the arrival of public companies from other industries in #mining (although there are more and more such examples). Arcane Research experts suggest that the active entry of miners to the exchanges is due to the fact that public companies have better access to capital, which allows them to expand their equipment fleet faster than their private competitors. Today, according to data from the Cambridge University Bitcoin Energy Consumption Index, 44.95% of the hashrate is controlled by North American miners. Taking into account the projected increase in the target hashrate among public mining companies, this share will grow, which means that over time the Bitcoin network will become more centralized. The speed of #bitcoin mining has grown significantly over the past few years, and on February 18, the hashrate of the network reached a new record high of 248.11 Hash/sec (EH/s). Currently, the hashrate of Bitcoin is 213.16 EH/s, or approximately two hundred and thirteen quintillion hashes per second.
