The Securities and Commodities Authority of the United Arab Emirates has signed an agreement with the Dubai World Trade Center Authority (DWTCA). This agreement is aimed at supporting the regulation and trading of cryptocurrencies in the DWTCA economic zone. This was reported on Wednesday by the Emirates News Agency (WAM). The agreement establishes a structure that allows the DWTCA to issue the necessary permits and licenses for conducting financial activities related to cryptocurrencies. As part of the agreement, SCA will also control the main operations related to cryptocurrencies. These include the supervision of the issue, offer, listing and trading of cryptocurrencies. As well as licensing of related financial activities that fall under the jurisdiction of the DWTCA. The agreement was signed by Dr. Maryam Al Suwaidi, Acting Director General of the SCA, and Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General of the DWTCA and the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commercial Marketing (DTCM). Dr. Al Suwaidi stated: "The SCA will be responsible for regulatory oversight of the offering, issuance, trading and listing of crypto assets, as well as for licensing related financial activities within the DWTCA free zone. The SCA will also oversee, monitor and investigate licensed organizations that operate in the free zone." The CEO of DWTCA stated that he is committed to expanding his services as a free zone of choice for the international investment and business community.
