An unknown hacker has once again hacked the Solana platform: millions of dollars have been stolen!!! The other day, the Solana project team posted a post in which it reported that the so-called Wormhole bridge was hacked, specifying that work is currently underway to restore it. Based on the official statement of the company, it is known that the "bridge" between Solana and Ethereum was hacked, as a result of which an unknown hacker managed to steal 120 thousand ether coins, about $ 320 million. An expert on the security of the Paradigm platform under the nickname "samczsun" tried to find out how the hacker managed to commit this hack. In his opinion, the attacker most likely received the private keys, or simply hacked the blockchain, which is much more difficult. The hacked, so-called communication bridge connecting Solana with other DeFi protocols, undertook to replenish ETH reserves in order to restore the balance, preventing panic among users. Despite such a promise, experts had time to wonder where the broadcast would come from, since the team does not disclose this information. Despite claims that this hack will not cause inconvenience to users, the Wormhole development team has announced its readiness to cooperate with hackers. Moreover, according to reports, the attackers were offered to return the stolen funds for a decent reward — would-be programmers were offered "compensation" in the amount of $ 10 million. It is worth noting that the analytical company investigating the distributed registry technology TRM Labs, in September last year added support for an application that tracks transactions on the Solana network. During the specified period, the application managed to track 96 thousand wETH transactions that were sent to the Ethereum space. Tom Robinson, founder of Elliptic analytical company, noted that the above-mentioned situation points to security problems of DeFi-blockchains, since even the simplest programs managed to track thousands of crypto transactions. "Open, not fully tested protocols give hackers the opportunity to use vulnerabilities to steal impressive funds," the man added. In this context, it is worth adding that over the past day, the price of the SOL cryptocurrency has fallen by 12%. This, by the way, is the fourth hacking of the Solana blockchain in the last few months, which could affect the fall in value.
