Clowns: why are we afraid?
***"I'll kill you all! Aha, i'll drive you crazy, and i'll kill you all! I'm every nightmare you've ever had. I am your worst dream come true". - Pennywise*** October 21, 2020 Good day for everyone!@BCH.Serg here. While browsing on youtube this morning, i've watched a prank about clowns scaring peoples. It is super effective, people got scared and ran away immediately. Even I will be startled when a clown suddenly pops out of nowhere. So why are we afraid of clowns? Is there a psychological explanation? **History** The craze began on August 2016, when a report surfaced that clowns were seen in South Carolina and allegedly trying to lure children into the cluster of trees. Since then, clown sightings in 24 more other states are reported. Most of these clown treats are not harmful but there have been few serious incidents. A teenager dress up like a clown carrying a blade was arrested by the police. This becomes a warning for others who wants to distress and potential harm to others. In this more advanced modern day where pranks are a trend right now, Sightings like this are still surfacing up. **So why are we afraid of clowns?** Maybe there is a psychological explanation. According to Rami Nader, a Canadian psychologist, clown phobias are fueled by the fact that clowns wear makeup and disguises that hide their true identities and feelings. Another reason, is people are afraid of clown mannerism. Frank MacAndrew, a psychologist said people are afrai of because they're mischievous, which puts people constantly on guard. People interacting with a clown during one of his routines never know if they are about to get a pie in the face or be the victim of some other humiliating prank. Other factors that fuel the fear of clowns are cultures and media. Movies like Stephen King's "It" where it features a clown that exploits the fears and phobias of the children. **Thoughts** Personally i have never been on a halloween party where someone wore a clown costume nor saw someone in other places. But i think it will scared the shit out on me when i encountered one. Just like how Ronald McDonald creeps me out everytime that i see him at the malls. ***Any suggestion or reaction? When I was in 7th grade, my classmate lent me his book entitled ***The Sinister Clown***, the story was good but after that I became afraid of clowns, well not necessarily afraid, but I don't like looking at them. I don't even want to eat at McDonalds fastfood because of the clown there.
Im a fan of McDonalds fries. So laban lang. Hehe
I never saw clowns in person too only in movies. Clowns are supposed to be used as entertainers during kid's parties, but because of these horror movies portraying clowns, many became afraid of it already
Yes. So i can't imagine my daughter celebrating her birthday with a clown. Jolibee nalang. Lol.
Sabi ko na nga b pinoy ka..haha
Yea. I am. I thought you knew
Not really but I was already sensing it 😅
Lol. I just usually write on english. Kahit sa comment. Kaya siguro parang di pinoy

Children became afraid of clowns because of movies and videos online. That's the main reason just like Pennywise and the killer clowns. Adults usually scare kids with these characters making them to be afraid of clowns.
Yes. Just like parents telling their children that the nurse will inject them if they don't behave. So in the end, everytime a child sees a nurse they got frighten.
Never saw that one, but had u watched the jalals po? They had one about the clown, sadako n other things din po n one of it turned out bad kasi ung ipaprank po nila ng oras na un eh my sukbit/dalang baril po, clowns before made us happy especially on birthday parties but since there's a scary or horror movie about the clowns, some of the children r already scared n afraid of it na po
Yea. Ive seen that one patay yung nagprank
