It is an awesomely written Novel by Col. Z. I. Farrukh about fall of Dhaka in south Asia between Pakistan and Bangladesh. He had written the story during that time when he was fighting in Bangladesh. It is a real life story. Many commentaries and serials are made on it. It is a heart touching story. I am going to review this Novel as it is very close to my heart. In this novel Z.I Farrukh has said that he used to write this NOVEL under the atmosphere of fall of dhaka that how it leads to breakage of Pakistan into two halves. Many poets have also written on that. One of my favourite 'Ghazal' is 'wo hm saffar tha' by Naseer Turabi, a famous and epoch-making personality.

Why the fall of Dhaka occurred:

Multiple factions were working there in Bangladesh at that time. The movement was basically started from universities in Dhaka. Students run a campaign that west Pakistan was not giving their rights to them. Firstly, it was the movement to sought their rights from west Pakistan as they thought that major revenue, jute production occurred in Bangladesh. Pakistani took benefit of their resources and giving them no return, not even respect, representation and revenue indeed. Well these were not the only reasons, there were multiple issues like urdu Bengali language conflict and both east and west bengal are very distant to each other. Initially, it was the campaign lead by few people to sought their rights from west Pakistan but with the passage of time multiple powers started exaggerating the matter and made it a separatist movement . Meanwhile, the failure of negotiations also lead to this.

Some people supported West Pakistan:

Despite all the turmoil continued in east Pakistan, there were some people in Bangladesh who still supported west Pakistan and were not the part of separatist movements. Among those people were one of the families of a Bengali girl named sonia. Karnal Farrukh met her in university when he was gone there to check the prevailing situations. He was fallen in love with Sonia and they both have same feelings for each other. The girl also supported west Pakistan. She supported west Pakistan and was against all that uprisings going in at different fronts in west Pakistan. She was the daughter of prominent father who was a civil servant and was the part of civil services in Bangladesh. Well the campaign was running from their own house as some people were against and some were with west Pakistan.

Niazi signed the instrument of surrender:

The army fought for many days in dhaka and they were continued fighting there. Many of the uprisings were dissolved but the army was reduced to few people as many were killed and many were put to jail. The army was also dividend inwardly as many soldiers were bangali and at one point of time they took their arms against army of west Pakistan. The food, water and everything was blocked for Army and for days of days they did not got food. Their children started dying. In a nutshell, the army fought with great courage but they have to surrender as they got no response from the politicians of their own country for which they were fighting fearlessly.

Ignorance by politicians:

There were a time when the Bengali leaders tried to negotiate with the leaders of west Pakistan. They gave multiple proposals, but there were always been leadership gap in Pakistani homeland. Politicians, in favouring their own cause lead to the partition of Pakistan into two halves

Ending of Z. I Farrukh love story:

All the members of Sonia's family were killed as she refused to handover Z.I Farrukh to the uprisers. She was given the choice to save her family if she handover Z. I Farrukh to them. She refused in doing so and her house was blacklisted. Her younger brother was killed, her father was died and mother was disappeared. Meanwhile, one of his cousins was also killed. Only she was left behind. At the last movement she called Z.I Farrukh to save her. As he reached the spot she was not there. He tried to find her but could not. Finally, he went back and posted somewhere else. After that he tried multiple times to find Sonia but failed in all his efforts. Sonia was also disappeared. Z. I Farrukh was put to jail. Although, he managed to come out of jail but could not find Sonia. Still now he is trying to find her but there is no clue of her.

Well, it was the sad story. Not only the fall of dhaka is heart breaking that our soil is departed into two halves but also the massacre happened there.

Yes, all those things existed there. I was talking about the major highlights of the issues and the story that Z.I Farrukh discussed in the novel.
