Looking Outside From closed Windows

I have thought to write about the life of girls in south Asian society. Every society has certain norms, values and culture. South Asian societies have very stringent policies and norms. They do not abandon their norms and values even if it is the matter of life or happiness. In south Asian society, girls are restricted in every possible way. Take the example of Afghanistan, Iran, pakistan and other asian countries. Even the most talented girls are not allowed to work or even to associate with society or to develop a healthy social circle. Probably these countries are not progressing as the women participation is low. Women are barred from stepping out from home. They are not allowed to seek education, they are curbed from doing business and other possible jobs. There is a culture of 'chadar and chardiwari'. While men are set free to do whatever they want. As they are given with all liberties, in most rural areas and even in urban societies they abuse women with impunity. Even those girls who are allowed to work or to study in one or another possible way are curbed from doing this and that activities. What the Asian girls do is only to look the world behind closed windows and doors. Even to look outside the doors is become possible with the advent of internet and globalisation.

Who closed the windows:

Parents are the first book of every girl. They take their mothers as a roll model. When they see their mothers to be curbed in the home, asking to their men for petty things, beaten like animals, and restricted in every possible way by the mens of the house. Those girls never dared to unfollow their mothers. The fear of being treated brutally with revolt occupy their hearts and mind. They can't decide anything for them on their own. In asian societies, when a girls born the first thought came in father's mind is how to curb her, she might not become the cause of their dishonour. With this mindset, they never set her free, never try to talk to her freely and ultimately a sense of deprivation develop in girls as they grow. Even when they step out of home, they do not dare to revolt their culture, and some girls indulge in bad activities as well.

Why Parents do so?

Parents often do that because of societal pressure. Asian societies have certain norms and values that they follow strictly. They use religion as a toll to control the women. Whenever they have to curb a girl or a women they use religion as a card and slam them. Asian society is basically a male dominant society. The religion of males start and ends only and only with putting restrictions on girls. Girls are not allowed to wear dresses of their own choice, thy are said to wear 'dupata' and do this and that. While men can rome freely in the dresses of their choice. As society put curbs so parents have no other option but to force their daughter to do what they want. In order to adjust in society and to maintain their family intact they have to do that.

Implications of doing so:

As a result of doing so, girls lack confidence, they lack courage to take any step for them and lack opportunities to grow in life. Girls that are barred ultimately stayed dependent on their husband and they prays to have a good man to be included in their life by their parents. All their wishes depend on their spouse to be fulfilled. They turn all their attentions to that man going to be added to their life by their parents. Even at that point when girls have to choose a spouse they have no choice. But, a good girl in order to prove her loyalty to parents, marry the person of others people choice. A good girl will never select a man for herself. And ultimately if that man is not good for her or for any reason she could not keep up the relation with him, she has to stay there. There is no free choice of leaving husband. A good woman will never say no to her parents and family.

How close windows lead to silent deaths:

Many south asian girls die silently. If not die they suffer mental or physical assault for the rest of their life. They have no option to leave so called male dominant house. As they do not have proper education, do not have any skill and any other source of earning. They have no other option to avail. One more thing Asian girls have many children. And some asian men take the benefits of having children. A women is restricted by her children. Most of the girls suffer as they think that if they leave children behind with their father what will happen to them? Who will nourish them?.This concept put a millions of chains in their foots to stay in bitter condition. All this mental and physical assault has reduced the life expectancy of girls and many die during pregnancy or post pregnancy period. So this is the havoc life of many girls in Asian societies.

So, these are few and are a very few points that are enlisted. Problems of women in Asian society are many. Even the most of them are undescribable. But this is the grim reality of society that their is silent death behind many closed doors with each passing day.
