Internacional Lesbian day International Lesbian Day is celebrated on **October 8** around the world, because on this day in **1904**, for the first time, attention was drawn to lesbian issues, rights and invisibility. On that date, German journalist **Anna Ruling** gave a speech in Berlin on lesbian rights, entitled "**What are the advantages of the women's movement from resolving the homosexual issue?"**. Ruling sharply criticized the women's movement for not participating in the fight against the oppression of lesbians and drew attention to the need for cooperation within the LGBT community.

A woman whose enduring physical, romantic, and/or emotional attraction is to other women. Some lesbians may prefer to identify as gay or as gay women.
This day is important because it draws attention to the **visibility** problems of lesbians. Despite the fact that we think we live in a modern society, lesbians cannot get many human rights. The biggest problem they face is that homosexuality is banned in some countries and the punishments are terrible. Lesbians often experience various forms of discrimination, and even experience psychological and physical violence by homophobes. In some countries they cannot marry their partners. I can't exercise many of my rights, heterosexual couples can.
**All people are equal** and everyone should have the same rights. We need to fight against discrimination and violence. **Education** is the most important, so try to positively influence the people around you. We must all keep trying to make the world tolerant and inclusive.

Well I'm bisexual so yes, I've dated women and honestly speaking, gay men are far more accepted in society than lesbians. Much more so in my country because here, lesbians are pretty much stereotyped and in the end, some of them are still forced into heterosexuality by external pressures, much different from when a man says they're gay. So it's good that there's a commemorative day for lesbians though I've never heard of this celebration before
I used to think you are a man. It's great you are out, even online. In Serbia, lesbians are also stigmatized and under stereotypes, but somehow people find it easier to bear to hear about or see a lesbian couple. Homophobes hate gay men, and they like to watch lesbian porn. That hypocrisy is awful. Many homosexuals are hiding in Serbia.
Ehh i give off the impressions of being a man? The thing is, unless you're the type of lesbian/gay that wants to be transgendered, there's really nothing to hide. You can still act like your gender and still show attraction to the same sex in subtle ways when in public or you can be proud of it to the crowd. But i agree, the hypocrisy in homophobes is just unbelievable, and they'd be the ones going crazy over homosexual porn. Like, why can't they just stay silent. Love is love and that's that but it must be hard for the girls in serbia. I always thought europe was more accepting of these natters because of the existence of gay and lesbian bars in some parts there

Sorry :) Somehow I am happy because you are a girl :) Europe is okay, but Spain, Germany and other countries, but Serbia and countries around Serbia are clear homofobic countres. But, things are changing, its very slow, but there is progress. In Belgrade (Serbia) there js gay bars, and one more big city has gay bar.
No worries, i get that a lot even in my country 😅😅😅 Ahh that slow progression is nice though. At least one day you know that being gay or lesbian wouldn't feel like a mortal sin and that people can show their affection publicly to their same gendered significant others. Wish i could've done that with my ex more but oh well XD
