The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is not overly fond of cryptocurrencies. Just over a month ago, El Salvador became the first country in the world to introduce Bitcoin as an official currency. Crypto enthusiasts around the world have praised the decision, but not everyone is as positive as this group. One of the project's biggest critics has been the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Now the organization is afraid that other countries will follow El Salvador's example. In a report on financial stability in the world released on Tuesday, the IMF writes that "cryptocurrency" is a threat to the world economy. Cryptography is a term used to describe when countries use cryptocurrencies as their official currency. The IMF further writes that cryptocurrency can lead to liquidity crises, destabilization of economies and that central banks find it more difficult to conduct monetary policy.
