UBI, universal basic income, is a controversial topic for many people. What would it do for the economy if we just have people a base income no matter what they do? Every year, the SOM Institute at the University of Gothenburg asks the Swedish population how they respond to various political issues. The latest report came last week, and it shows that interest in UBI has increased. 28 percent have answered that they think that basic income is a very good proposal or a pretty good proposal. That is more than last year, when almost a quarter answered that they were positive about basic income.
