The Greenlandic Parliament has voted in favor of a law banning the extraction of uranium. The decision was an election promise this spring, when the now ruling Inuit Ataqatigiit (IA) took power in a by-election announced after, among other things, a battle over a controversial mining project where rare earth metals and uranium would be extracted. Greenland does not ban all mining, but for environmental reasons all exploitation of oil is banned. #Maketomorrowbetter
