Gratitude About the Little Things We Forget More Often Than Not Gratitude About the Little Things We Forget More Often Than Not Happiness is thought to come from big things; a lavish house, a new car, or a foreign vacation. Quite honestly, we can admit that happiness is most often found in little moments, which we've overlooked. To imagine: A warm cup of coffee in the morning. A smile from the neighbor as our paths cross. A cool breeze in the afternoon. A favorite song suddenly plays on the radio. There are small, inexpensive but peaceful little things. Instead, we waste so much energy on what we do not have that we forget about everything that we do have. It was once said, "Not all people who have everything are happy, but people that can enjoy what they have," When I read that, it struck me because it made me realize, if we train our hearts to appreciate, every day will feel as if there is a lift. Let's also take a moment to remember three little things that made us smile during the day each evening from now on. It need not be anything grand, just hearing birds sing, a message from an old friend, or watching a gentle drizzle on your window. Happiness is not far; it's just a little effort.
