"Love your enemy as you love your beloved" may sound difficult to do, but it has a very deep meaning. In Islam, loving one's enemy does not mean approving of his evil, but showing compassion, forgiveness, and noble morals. This implies the existence of Wisdom, where; 1. Being a Forgiving Person. Allah says: "Repel (the evil) in a better way, then suddenly the one between whom you had enmity seems to have become a faithful friend." (QS. Fussilat: 34) 2. Eradicate Hatred. Hatred will only harm yourself. By loving the enemy, the heart becomes more spacious and free from resentment. 3. Emulating the Prophet ﷺ's Character The Prophet ﷺ always repaid evil with good, even to those who were hostile to him, as when he forgave the people of Tha'if and the murderer of his uncle, Hamzah. 4. Turning Enemies into Friends. Sincere kindness can melt the hearts of enemies and pave the way for friendship.
