I don’t “like” guns or weapons, anymore than I “like” hammers. In fact, I might go so far as to say I’d prefer if guns and hammers were not necessary. If no one with a gun existed who wanted to harm me and they had no other use. If I could just push pails into wood with my finger. Any fool could kill me with a hammer though, if they chose to and caught me off guard. When will the world realize the answer lies in people’s hearts? It’s the heart that harbors intent to kill. Not an object. I wrote a piece for my high school’s poetry compilation when I was 17. The final line read: “I’ll trust the kid with the A-bomb in his backpack and love in his heart, before I’ll trust your locked down school.” They had made wallet chains “illegal” according to school rules, because they could be used as weapons. Regarding the A-bomb and backpack, that’s about as extreme a definition of “extreme libertarian” as one can get. But as long as the kid knew 100% how to not let the thing blow up, I stand by those words today. The metaphor deals with principle. Not how or why the kid had the bomb. But the basic principle. People don’t get that. Someone who really wants to kill ya, will stop at nothing to get the job done, if they aren’t stopped. Regulations have never stopped this. And besides. Guess who gets a magic pass to have all the guns and actual A-bombs??? You guessed it: your magical GOD, The government. #Voluntaryism
