Went to Tokyo for some business, and had more pleasure than I expected. Plus a little hangover to battle through the next day. But it was worth it. My hotel was also perfect — a cheap shoegaze-looking escape. Went for a 3-mile run around Akasaka. Then it was time for beer, jokes, and good friends I rarely see.

New Music Demos for Sale in BCH, Running Update, etc. Hello. Well, I still cannot post links here on this account, which is highly frustrating — nonetheless, the show must go on: I'm in the process of putting together a new album, and will be hitting a pro studio in August, in Saitama, Japan. For the time being, I've released a few demo versions of some tunes I recorded at home. To listen to the demos, just head over to Sound Cloud (can't post l i n k, sorry), and search for…

(Shoegaze) Running Blog 05: MBV's 'Isn't Anything' Review (日本語/英語) Ran to My Bloody Valentine's 1988 album "Isn't Anything" today. Went at a pretty good clip and had a nice average mile time. This album probably isn't as accessible to the "mainstream listener" as 1991's "Loveless," but damn are there some good songs on here. I recommend if you like shoegaze. When I first heard the opening track "Soft As Snow…

Slowdive Sunday Run Ran 4 miles out to a new spot listening to a Slowdive album. Enjoyed the beat scenery, vast green carpet of lush rice fields, and shrine at golden hour.

Sea Life / See Food / Eat Food - Japanese Seafood Went out to the beach today for some spearfishing and took in the first two fish of the year. They were tiny, but it was good to get in some diving practice and just enjoy the sunshine, and being in that crazy, beautiful world under the water. Also found a pretty big *sazae* — much bigger than last time — and grilled it. This past weekend I visited the mountain city of Minakami, in Gunma prefecture, and had some fantastic…

I couldn't sleep the night before the summer solstice. I gave up trying, and just went straight to the beach as I was planning to — but much earlier than I thought I would. Once I got to the sea, I could feel the stress in my body start to fade away. The excitement of diving and snorkeling, spear in hand, made me forget I hadn't slept.…

4 Miles, 4 Torii, and One Tanuki — Run to the Fox Shrine Ran four miles out to a neat shrine on a college campus today. The last stretch was a hill heading into the small mountains by my house, and boy did it take it outta me! Felt good. The shrine has four torii gates leading to the main building, presided over by fox messengers serving the Shintō god of grain and commerce known as *Inari Ōkami*, as I understand it. I enjoyed catching my breath there, visiting the shrine…

Original Music for Sale in BCH! Listen Here for Free :) Well, my short EP of three home-recorded demos, "Magic Beach EP," arrived in the mail right on the Summer Solstice. I only ordered ten copies to start with, as I am hitting a more professional music studio in August, and need to start small and go little-by-little. We've booked a beach house in August for a live show, too! Will be utilizing my two new Japanese friends "Ketchup & Mustard" (pictured just below) for that…
