When students sometimes wish for heavy rain, their intention is not to be insensitive, what they really meant is... They just wanted a class suspension, maybe because school activities are requiring a little too much of themselves that it's draining them and they just wanted a time off, without skipping class. When people complain that they're tired of working, it does not mean they're not grateful of their jobs, what they meant is... They are literally exhausted of the work itself because it's overwhelming or they're tired living from paycheck to paycheck- yung tipong enough lang yung kinikita pang bills at pangsuporta pamilya and they can't afford to quit so they sucked it up and still goes to work because they're tied to their obligations. When parents complain about how tiring parenthood is, it doesn't mean they don't consider their kids blessings and it doesn't mean they want to get rid of them, what they meant is... They just wanted enough sleep and rest to take their strength back, they're just tired physically and there's nothing wrong admitting that parenthood is not always rainbows and butterflies, parenthood may be the most fulfilling role but also the toughest. I'm sure some readers are already misinterpreting the above contexts and will relate it to ingratitude. This is where the phrases "At least you have kids" are used— judgemental commentaries like these are the reason why people don't have a safe space to process their emotion. Why make people feel guilty for feeling exhausted, for wanting a break or for simply wanting peace. Being grateful and seeing the bright side of things is indeed a wonderful trait however the above examples have nothing to do with being grateful. You can be grateful and tired. We are habitually putting alter meanings to things that were not mentioned in the first place. Comprehend, be open minded and be understanding— we only misunderstood people's intentions because we are determined to misinterpret them.
