TOPIC: POWER OF DOMINION TEXT: GENESIS 1:26-28- “And God said, let us make man in our own image, after our likeness, and let them have dominion...” Dominion is a right of every one connected to God. God first exercised dominion when He, at a snap of His finger, called things that were not as though they were, and they came to be. Genesis 1 is a proof that the almighty God has power and that of His own accord has given power also to man. Adam didn’t beg for it, so it would be out of place to beg God for power; it was given to us when we became a new creation, except if we have something working against us- and that can only be ‘sin’. “And God said, let us make man in our own image, after our likeness, and let them have dominion..." Gen.1:26. God did not just pose an idea to the Trinity but went ahead and created man: “so God created man in His image, in the image of God created He him, male and female created He them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them. Be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth, and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air, and over everything that moved upon the ground (27-28) Dominion means ‘the power to rule’. What are we to rule? The sea (including real fishes and human fishes; mermaids); the air- fowls and birds of the air( including witches and wizards that fly in the air, and the prince of the power of the air- Satan); All the earth- (including the powers that be and that situation you are going through). The almighty knew that there are principalities and powers that will hate you for no reason, hence, He gave you power over them. The question is, are you living like a god or at the mercy of situations? Are you fulfilling your heavenly mandate to dominate or are you trampled, oppressed and squeezed daily? If you are living a life of dominion, it means you have knowledge of your place in Christ, and that you live by faith and not by sight; “you shall know the truth, and it shall set you free”. However, if your life is one huge pity and a negation of all that God said to you at creation, then my beloved, you need to wake up before that sleep translates to death. In the book of Judges 5, everything turned upside down for God’s people, but while everyone accepted it as ‘normal’ Deborah spoke to herself in verse 12-13: “Awake, awake, Deborah: awake, utter a song..." Next, she turns to Barak, the commander of the Army and said: “arise Barak, and lead thy captivity captive, thou son of Ahinoam.” When that noble woman decided to rise, she testified: "...The Lord made me have dominion over the mighty.” Beloved of God, there is no mountain too high or huge that cannot be moved, nor pit too deep that you cannot come out from. The devil only has the upper hand because you have chosen to remain in what you are used to; rise up today and begin to shine( Isaiah 60:1). Rise, and have dominion over the mighty because that is the reason Jesus died. Walking in dominion is 100% possible! Dear God, we thank you for giving us the power to dominate in all areas of our lives, we open ourselves in submission to your will for grace to exercise this power. In Jesus mighty name.
