TOPIC: LESSONS FROM JESUS (Part 1)- YOU CAN'T HAVE THE STAGE FOREVER Art Buchwald it was who said : "Whether It is the best of times or the worst of times, it is the only time we have." Sometimes, it's a huge burden to do the needful because of all the things screaming at us for attention at the same time, but if we would pay a little more attention, we would discover that some of those needs are nothing short of distractions to stop us from the really important things. Our Lord Jesus was one who never allowed anything to stop Him from His mission. One notable maxim of His' was: "I must work the works of Him that sent Me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work." (John 9:4) When the night comes, dreams cease; the wings of passion and motivation in man lie motionless never to be roused again, and no matter how much we would love to work to bring glory to God, the chance will be forever gone! Do we need to be reminded that no one lives forever? Where is the fiery Elijah that signed his name as a prophet of fire? Where are the sons of Thunder- James and John Zebedee? Where is the sage- Solomon that refused to deny his flesh every pleasure it craved? The queen of Sheba came to see for herself after she got tired of hearing of the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding bequeathed to this lone man. They all had the stage for a while, and commanded awe.But they are no longer here; we are the ones here now. Let's ensure we make JESUS motto ours: *"I must work while it is day..."* The day time is for working; work! Our Saviour and Lord had just thirty three years; it wasn't long compared to how long some have been privileged to live, but He worked tirelessly pouring Himself on some ordinary men who became trail blazers. Who are you pouring yourself into? Who is drinking ftom your stream? When your night comes , who will continue your legacies? Jesus was exhausted and hungry, and sat by the well waiting for His disciples to bring Him food; along comes a Samaritan woman to fetch water. He didn't wave the opportunity aside with the excuse of *weariness and hunger* but engaged her in a conversation that ended in the conversion of a whole city. May God help us to follow in the footsteps of our Lord, always conscious of the fact that, we don't have forever to make impact, we only have now Father in heaven, we thank you for the gift of life today. Help us to do the needful now and always.
