*Path to Honour* By Pastor Sarah Joseph Jonathan 8th February, 2024. Mark.9.33 - 34 - *"And He came to Capernaum: and being in the house He asked them, What was it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way? But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest."* The craving to be great is in most of us; the question we should rather be finding answer to is, 'great in what?' We run and sweat for the minor, and do nothing about the major. What will it profit us, if we become super popular on earth, and unknown in heaven? For the disciples in our text, they argued and got worked up on who should be the kingpin among them. The kingpin is the chief person in a group. Till date, man is still going to great lengths to take that place that will make others bow to them. But you know what? *"...no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.(Hebrews 5:4)"* Honour is given. It is not in your place to go looking for honour: *"So also Christ glorified not Himself to be made an high priest..."*(v:5) Till Jesus comes, folks will continue to serve to be noticed and applauded; believers will continue to lobby and set others up, so that chief positions will come to them. People will kill and go low just to be called great... But the one who sees through the darkness, and the deep recesses of our hearts, is once again giving us a wakeup call and reminding us of the way to the top: *"... If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all."* (Mark 9:35) What more? Jesus is our model: *"Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:... Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name: (Philippians 2:5-9)"* Let us pray: Father, please help me to have the mind of Christ ....
