TOPIC: Be Rightly Positioned TEXT: Genesis 13:1-11 Social Science continues to tell us that we reflect our society, and that a lot of our traits and behavior are acquired from our immediate environment. We don't need to research to know that they are right in their conclusion. What we want to establish here is that we have a lot to benefit from positioning ourselves rightly. Zaccheus was limited in height; not in sense. He knew that try as he may, he would never see Jesus because of his stature. He wasn't among the people graced with height but he knew how to position rightly. He climbed up a sycamore tree and was instantly elevated. *"When Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said unto him, Zaccheus make haste, and come down; for today I must abide at thy house."* (Luke 19:5) All he wanted was to know what Jesus looked like, but he got more than that; he not only saw Him, but Jesus stayed at his house. He got an extra because he went an extra mile to see Jesus. How many are that crazy about Jesus? *"...they that seek me diligently shall find me".* Stop thinking that God has favourites. His favourites are those who are hungry for Him. Get hungry for God and begin to enjoy His presence. Where are you positioned? Jonah was trouble personified; he boarded a ship with some innocent travelers; the travelers became guilty by proximity, and were going to die his death, until they had the sense to throw him overboard. A lot of believers are sure that they are in the wrong place, and with the wrong people, but they will rather choose to please them than part ways; how foolish! Dinah decided to position herself with the daughters of the land, and she wasn't only stripped of her virtue, but caused the blood of many innocent men to be shed. How many of our daughters still have their virtues intact? *"As a ring of gold in a swine's snout, so is a lovely woman who lacks discretion."* (Prov 11:22) While Lot was with Abraham, his life and wealth were guaranteed; he lost everything in one day when he shifted. There are people on earth you should never think of disconnecting from as long as you have breath in your nostrils; there are people you should endeavor to live in peace with all your life, because God has placed them as a covering over you. Lot disconnected from Abraham thinking that he was man enough to stand on his own, and he paid dearly for it. At a time in Jacob's life, he decided to leave laban and go fend for his family, but hear what laban said: *"I pray thee, if I have found favor in thy eyes, tarry: for I have learned by experience that the Lord hath blessed me for thy sake."* (Genesis 30:27) It is possible for someone's blessing to rub on you, as well as their curse. Your blessings are tied to men; not angels. Whatever God will give you, would be brought to you via men. It takes discerning believers like Ruth to cling to and be rightly positioned to get God's best for them. God is still giving out His good treasure to the sons of men; but the question is, are you rightly positioned? May the good Lord position us for Your best in our lives while disconnecting us from people of easy virtues. We pray that God build us up by His word to stay rightly positioned in Jesus' Name
