The rose belongs to the Rosaceae family, and is the name given to the flower that emanates from the bush called rosebush, which is a climbing plant capable of reaching one meter in height in the right conditions. At present, more than 30,000 species are known scattered throughout the world, although their original origin is from the lands of Asia and West Africa. Historically, there are many curiosities that surround roses. In Roman, Egyptian and Greek cultures they were related to beauty, which is why they were used as ornamental plants. A Greek legend attributes the appearance of this plant to the goddess Cybele, who, jealous that Aphrodite's beauty was unmatched, created the rose so that it could compete with her. Another Greek legend indicates that Aphrodite herself created the white flower to be just as beautiful as herself, and she wore it all the time as an ornament on her breast. However, one day, the god Dionysus got very close to her and poured wine on the flower, giving it its characteristic color. In the case of the Romans, they planted roses of different colors to decorate the main gardens, since they were decorated and produced a magnificent smell, as well as they had special fountains that only emanated rose water. Likewise, its petals were used to fill pillows and also as aphrodisiacs to call love. With the arrival of the Middle Ages, roses were planted only to adorn monasteries, although the different dynasties and colonization processes caused this plant to spread throughout the world, giving anyone access to them and their properties. In the case of Italy, the flower represented virginity, so women were filled with them as ornaments to refer to the goddess Venus.
