The Stepson Who Risked His Life. Never Going Home Before the Fire is Extinguished, Even though the Life of the Stakes is the motto that is always attached to firefighters around the world. In carrying out their duties in the disaster department, firefighters are always required to be disciplined, honest, patient, steadfast and vigilant. March 1, 2021, the Indonesian Fire Department celebrates their 102nd birthday, firefighters in various regions in Indonesia celebrate their birthdays. They are 102 years old but until now they do not have a separate Department or Ministry within the Indonesian government. Of course at the age of one century it is very sad if firefighters are underestimated and even they are considered stepchildren by the Indonesian government, how come? Until now, the Indonesian fire department does not have a separate institution that has a centralized command from the ministerial level to various regions. Until now, the Indonesian Fire Department does not have a permanent institution, they always move from one institution to another. It is time for the Indonesian government to think about their fate, there is great hope from the Indonesian people that the Fire Brigade has a clear status like the Police and the TNI and even the Satpol PP. Heavy duty, big responsibility and discipline in duty are things that must be passed by firefighters, the risk of losing their lives and the threat to all the dangers of things that are always on them. As we know that the Fire Department has a very heavy duty, they have tasks such as fire prevention and control, fire fighting, rescue, fire management and empowerment of the wider community as well as other disaster tasks such as evacuating victims of all forms of disasters. In carrying out their duties, many firefighters have lost their lives while on duty, in fact they often have traffic accidents when the fire fleet is speeding up the road. Pressure after pressure is experienced by firefighters, starting from having to be on standby for 24 hours, they also have to struggle with the time when the blackout process takes place, they often get negative news from various circles and all of this becomes a dilemma for firefighters. The Indonesian government should have given extraordinary appreciation to the firefighters who have given their whole body and soul to help the affected communities, even though their lives are at stake. Peace and comfort have been clearly provided by firefighters in providing services to the Indonesian people, it is time for them to get appropriate salaries or honoraria, health and safety insurance, it is time for officers to get adequate welfare from the Indonesian government. In the history of Indonesia, firefighters have an important role in disaster management in Indonesia, from fires, floods, landslides, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and other disasters. The core duties of firefighters are to extinguish the fire in the event of a fire disaster as well as carry out evacuation and disaster management when a disaster occurs. The Indonesian fire department is the oldest agency in Indonesia, the beginning of the birth of the Indonesian fire department occurred in 1873 where it started with the name Brandweer. The history of the birth of the Indonesian fire department is still neatly stored at the DKI Jakarta Fire Service, with evidence of a book from Branweer. Until now, the Indonesian Fire Department has been impressed as a stepchild compared to other agencies. This is very unfortunate, because this institution, which was formed long before Indonesia's independence, does not seem so important to other existing institutions. Never going home before the fire goes out, even though life is at stake.
